Unlocked Android Phones

Another way to save is to buy an unlocked Android phone, instead of a new phone with your carrier. The deal with unlocked phones is that the software which requires your SIM card to lock to a certain manufacturer has been removed, so you simply take your previous SIM card out of your old phone, and put it into a new unlocked Android phone.  Unlocked phone prices run the gamut, they can be expensive or sometimes cheap depending on whether they are under warranty (usually they don’t come with one) or if they are refurbished, or if they are coming direct from the manufacturer.  Best to shop around and check prices on these as well, but you can often save money on a smartphone by getting an unlocked unit.
